Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Staff Scientist

Description
This is a full-time job position. Applicants should possess a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree from neuroscience, pharmacology, or other biomedical science-related research fields. Candidates need to have experience and skills in one or more of the followings: electrophysiology (patch-clamp recording), drug self-administration by rodents (or other behavioral studies), immunohistochemistry (IHC), or molecular biology.
Requirements
With supervisor’s guidance, qualified candidate(s) needs to be capable, and is expected to, (1) independently conduct research work in at least one the related areas described above; (2) perform experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis of data; (3) promptly report and solve research-related problems; and (4) communicate with colleagues in English (i.e., oral reporting for discussion of outcomes, writing for constructing scientific manuscripts, and presenting new data at scientific meetings). Previous postdoc training is not required. Applicants with a Master of Science (MS) degree and at least one year of experience in performing patch-clamp recording, rat/mouse drug self-administration, or IHC are also encouraged to apply.

Research
Defining the mechanism(s) that underlies the neuropathogenesis of comorbid chronic brain diseases such as drug addiction and neuroHIV (using a non-infectious animal model that express viral proteins, but not reproducible HIV-1), especially aging.
Physical Demands
Position involves potential exposure to chemicals, biological materials, and rodents in a research laboratory setting. Long period of setting, standing, or walking is required accordingly.
Salary Range
$36,000~$60,000; dependent upon education and research experience.
