A Heartfelt Welcome
It is an honor and privilege to have accepted the presidency of the Society on NeuroImmune Pharmacology (SNIP) and affirm the strong and established platform to highlight our joint successes. Standing on the shoulders of our past leaders, we must build on the successes they accomplished during the recent gatherings in New Delhi, India, and Charleston, SC, USA.
Our society's commitment to emerging scientific pursuits and professional development is unwavering. We have a proven track record of fostering collaborations, growth, and discussions among students and seasoned scientists in our Neuroimmune Pharmacology field. Our research and educational opportunities are novel as they explore the intersections between innate, humoral, and cellular immune responses as they affect nervous system biology and function in health and disease. Our field is as diverse as it is impactful. Recent discoveries in disease pathobiology, biomarkers, and therapeutics were highlighted by society leadership and showcased by our Journal on Neuroimmune Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NIPT). All underscore our dedication to understanding and addressing complex issues such as substance use disorders, drug development, and delivery that affect the brain. We have grown to harness genetics, developmental discovery, and bioengineering that influence disease outcomes. All these efforts serve to promote, develop, and bring early trainees together with translational neuroscientists to discuss the cross-over fields of immunity as it affects the nervous system.
SNIPers know that each of our meetings is looked forward to greeting all with enthusiasm and anticipation as we great our long-standing friends and colleagues, meet new ones, and engage our students with the excitement of discovery of science during presentations of exciting science and the broad opportunity to exchange personal career objectives, opportunities for collaborations and discussion of life, changes, and opportunities. New presentations on scientific approaches to solving problems are heard for the first time at our meetings. Our collegial interactions and opportunities for intellectual development remain without comparators. SNIP’s commitment to scientific pursuits towards emerging trainees and diverse scientists remains a singular goal. All bring direction and renewed energy to our inspiring and unparalleled collectives for both SNIP and NIPT. In the coming year, we will grow society’s interests and our parallel Journal with the most incredible enthusiasm towards improving outreach, education, and person-professional development opportunities and further expand our outreach in the years and decades. Today marks the beginning not only of a new administration, but of a period that will be eventful, perhaps decisive, for us and for the world.
On behalf of our society and its leadership, we look forward to seeing you in Omaha!
